151a, by Kishi Bashi

151a, which refers to the Japanese term for “once in a lifetime,” is the debut LP from indie pop experimental electronica singer/songwriter, violinist, guitarist, keyboardist and programmer Kishi Bashi, aka Seattle-born Kaoru Ishibashi. Careful listeners might recognize a few of the album cuts that have been used in commercials for companies like Sony (“It All Began With A Burst”), Smart Car (“Chester’s Burst Over the Hamptons”), and Microsoft (“Bright Whites”). Kishi Bashi, who has opened for Alexi Murdoch and Sondra Lerche, and supported of Montreal and The Last Bison, heads to Europe after his Stateside tour this fall.
